SLOAN

Bio
The band was formed in 1991 when Chris Murphy and Andrew Scott met at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax; Patrick Pentland and Jay Ferguson joined soon after. In 1992 the band created their own record label, Murderecords, for themselves and other Halifax area bands, and released the Peppermint EP.

Since then, Sloan has released 10 albums, one live album and have been nominated for a boat-load of Junos and ECMAs. Twice Removed (1994) grabbed 14th place in Bob Mersereau's The Top 100 Canadian Albums while One Chord To Another (1996) grabbed #34 and Smeared (1992) took #86. The band is now based in Toronto.
